cron-apt software package provides automatic update of packages using apt-get, you can install in your Debian 8 (Jessie) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install cron-apt
cron-apt is installed in your system.
Make ensure the cron-apt package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep cron-apt *
You will get with cron-apt package name, version, architecture and description in a table
